What is a Roof Certification Inspection?

As of February 1st, 2009, Citizens request a Roof Certification Form (CIT RCF-1 1108). Citizens has introduced a new wind-only policy that has new eligibility rules, coverage and an enhanced policy-processing software system for agents.

Typically, on these reports, insurance companies are looking for most systems in the Roof Condition Certification (CIT RCF-1 1108) to have been updated to current standards and to be in good condition. Some insurance companies like Citizens have forms that may be used called Citizens Roof Condition Certification Form (CIT RCF-1 1108).

These inspections are usually performed by a licensed general contractor, building contractor, roofing contractor, inspector or engineer.

All roofs must be in good condition with no damage or visible signs of leak to be eligible for coverage. Additionally, all roofs, regardless of age, must have at least 3 years of remaining useful life. However, the “Intent to Comply” exception may be allowed for roofs that do not have 3 years of remaining useful life but have already entered into a contract to have the roof covering replaced.
